It’s where we feel welcomed, accompanied, and advised. A home is our safe place; it’s where we find peace, tranquility, harmony, and, very importantly, where we have a daily encounter with God.

Building a safe place where we feel connected is not a small feat. Like everything, at first, it requires work, but once we incorporate it into our lives as part of our daily encounter with Christ, that’s when the vision changes, and everything becomes simpler.

What’s important here is to walk hand in hand with God and the Virgin Mary, as she is a beautiful example of creating a home, without great luxuries or comforts. She performed all the household tasks—washing, organizing, cleaning, taking care of Saint Joseph, and raising Jesus. But the point is not just to do things but to do them with love.

What does it mean to do things with love?
We must remember that we will be judged by the love we put into each of the things and activities we do throughout the day. We don’t need to do special or grand things to gain heaven. If I professionalize my duties at home, if I go out to work outside the house, if I gather with friends or family and put love and Christ at the center of that activity, then that activity was done with love and has great value before God.

You can do daily tasks perfectly, but if, while doing them, I complain, do them with anger, or grumble, then that activity, no matter how perfect it was, does not hold the same value before God as it would have if I had offered those grievances for a greater good.

Love is what gives meaning to our actions.
There is a phrase attributed to Saint Teresa of Calcutta that says, “Do not wash the dishes because they are dirty, nor because you were told to do so, do it out of love for the person who will use them after you.”

This applies to everything—from household tasks to professional work, actions with friends, and any other activity you perform. A decision made with love and trust in God brings great benefits to everyone, even if we don’t realize it.

How can we achieve peace, tranquility, and harmony in the home?
Above all, and most importantly, invite the Virgin Mary into your home by consecrating your life and your home to her. This is essential. You will see how, by letting her in, she begins to make the necessary changes, both physically and spiritually, within your home. Little by little, you will notice that there may be things that are not in good taste, and you will change them. You will notice that less is more, and the organization of your spaces becomes more productive.

On the other hand, turning our homes into places where our family and friends can truly encounter God, where our daily life becomes one of being in the presence of God, and making our home a place where holiness can be achieved, is a very enriching work for everyone.

What special activities or attitudes do you think we should foster to achieve bright and joyful homes?

First, as we already mentioned, let God and the Virgin enter our home. This can be done by consecrating it and also placing images that serve as human reminders of the need for God’s presence in our lives. We should try to live the faith in every corner of our home.

Respect among family members.

Spend time together as a family; quality time is essential.

Keep order in the home and maintain schedules.

Avoid violence; it’s normal for there to be shouting at home, especially when there are children, but there are different kinds of shouting. Always control the volume and respect.

Be grateful; there’s a saying that it’s from well-born people to be grateful. Make sure that gratitude is fundamental from parents to children, to God, and also among family members.

Adapt to changes; teach our children tolerance to frustration.

Create environments for relaxation, study, fun, and faith. Let the family know that every space in the home has a specific purpose and should be used accordingly.

Today we will talk about some tips for organizing our home, focusing on the people and how to create a home.
